Answers:
1. How do I set Internet Explorer 8 to compatibility mode?
In Internet Explorer 8, click Tools and then select Compatibility View.
2. Is it safe to download the ActiveX control for printing reports?
Yes. The component is from Microsoft and must be downloaded from the web server for printing to work.
3. When I enter a new project name, why does it lose focus, so I have to use the mouse?
This issue was fixed in Version 1.3.0; if you experience this problem again, please click on the Help menu item to contact Micro Businessware.
4. When I enter a new company name, why does it lose focus, so I have to use the mouse?
This issue was fixed in Version 1.3.0; if you experience this problem again, please click on the Help menu item to contact Micro Businessware.
5. What is the difference between 'Contains' and 'Like' when searching?
LIKE will find all records that start with the letters or words that you input. For example, if you input 'Ponderosa', you will get the results for any record that starts with the word 'Ponderosa' (e.g. Ponderosa Remodel); this type of search is helpful when you know what a project name or address starts with, but you cannot remember the actual name or address (e.g. I know it starts with 'Pon', but I cannot remember the exact spelling).
In the earlier example, LIKE will not find records that do not start with the word 'Ponderosa' but contain the word 'Ponderosa' elswhere (e.g. 1234 Ponderosa Drive). Hence, CONTAINS will find all records that contain the word 'Ponderosa'. CONTAINS is helpful when you want to find all records that pertain to a particular name or street. For example, I want to find all records for Taco Bell jobs, so I would type in 'Taco Bell' and select CONTAINS. Please note that you would omit the (') around the search phrase (e.g. Type Ponderosa and not 'Ponderosa').
6. The Report Origin choices have changed in Version 2. What happened to the old values?
In Version 1, Report Origin used to be the following:
Dodge
CMD
BidTool
PEC
Sales Lead
In Version 2, it has been changed to the following:
Dodge
CMD
Drive By
Permit
Other
For records entered prior to Version 2, all BidTool, PEC, and Sales Lead values were updated to 'Other'. However, any Report Numbers were retained. For example, if a record had PEC selected in Version 1 for Record #100, with a report number of 1-008, then it would show up as 'Other', with a report number of 1-008, for Record #100 in Version 2. Hence, in Version 2, 'Other' will represent all of The BidTool, PEC, Sales Leads, from Version 1, and anything new that fits it.
